Dryer Vent rerouting & installation

A dryer exhaust should not exceed 35 feet in developed length. Developed length is defined as the overall length of a dryer run from the dryer to the termination point. The maximum length is reduced by 2.5 feet for each 45-degree bend, and 5 feet for each 90-degree bend. 

A dryer exhaust must vent to the exterior of a residence. An exhaust system that terminates to the interior of a residence creates a major fire risk. 

A residential dryer vent should be 4 inches in diameter. A smaller duct will reduce airflow which reduces the efficiency of your dryer. 

A plastic dryer exhaust creates static electricity which can cause a fire within your vent. When foil duct is compressed the diameter reduces to less than 4 inches which reduces airflow. Foil also duct has ridges and grooves which cause lint to build up in the exhaust system. 

Plastic and foil duct will not contain a fire.
